It’s often difficult to see the smaller details that make a piece unique from a photo or even from across a room. When I’m painting I have the emotion or the scene I’m trying to portray in my mind. But my ultimate goal is to create something eye catching – so that as you move closer and closer, you can discover things that you didn’t see or notice before within the details. Things that draw you in Sometimes it’s texture or technique, sometimes it’s the use of color in a way that attempts to create the mood. But the idea is that I hope you like it from across the room and then love it when you’re ‘face-to-face’ exploring the hidden gems (that even in a close-up snap shot like below, you can’t fully experience).
