I’m in a bit of a transitional period in my life right now and it’s been a busy month!! It’s all positive but I haven’t had nearly enough time to paint. As things are starting to slow down/get back to normal, I’ve carved out some ‘me time’ and been in the studio for the last number of days. I have three pieces in the works and just finish the one below.
Shining Through speaks to me in a different way. Often times when I come up with an idea for a painting I try to connect with my title (which I typically select before I start painting) by building a specific scene in my mind. Color is often a piece of this, in creating the mood, but it’s also about the actual moment in time. Like a snap shot… capturing two people walking together or a street filled with people walking through the rain. When I started Shining Through I had a COMPLETELY different scene in mind. It was actually going to be a landscape with one lady and her umbrella. But I ended up forced into another direction. The colors are what makes this piece for me – and once I started applying them, they took on shapes and forms all by themselves and I just chose not to fight it…
